Mantle is an Ethereum Layer 2 with a twist — it’s backed by one of crypto’s largest treasuries and uses a modular design to keep fees low. If you want to try its ecosystem, you’ll first need to bridge ETH from mainnet over. Here’s the quick seven-step method.
Mantle is EVM-compatible, so your existing wallet works — the main task is getting funds across the bridge safely.
id=”what-youll-need”>What You’ll Need
An EVM wallet like MetaMask with ETH on Ethereum mainnet, plus a little extra ETH for the mainnet gas fee (bridge during off-peak hours to keep this reasonable). You’ll also want the Mantle network added to your wallet — most chain directories list it, or add it manually from Mantle’s official docs.
Use Mantle’s official bridge (find it via Mantle’s official site, typed by hand) or a reputable third-party bridge supporting the route. The official bridge is the most trust-minimized option; third-party routes are faster for some directions but add risk. See our bridge trust models guide for the trade-offs.
The 7 Steps
- Add the Mantle network to your wallet and switch back to Ethereum mainnet for the deposit.
- Open the official Mantle bridge by typing the URL yourself. Connect your wallet.
- Set the direction: from Ethereum to Mantle, token ETH. Review the summary and fees.
- Enter a small test amount first — even on official bridges, this habit is worth keeping.
- Confirm the deposit transaction and pay the Ethereum mainnet gas fee.
- Wait for the deposit to finalize. Official L2 deposits typically take several minutes as mainnet confirms.
- Switch to the Mantle network in your wallet and verify the ETH arrived before sending the full amount.
Fees, Timing, and Safety
Depositing costs one mainnet transaction (the expensive part — time it well) and then pennies on Mantle itself. Going the other way, Mantle’s optimistic design means official withdrawals take roughly 7 days, so don’t bridge funds you’ll need imminently. Our L2 escape hatches guide explains why.
Fake “Mantle bridge” sites are common — some even buy ads. Type the URL manually, bookmark it, and treat any DM or ad offering a Mantle bridge as hostile. The real bridge never asks for your seed phrase.

The Bottom Line
Bridging ETH to Mantle is a standard L2 deposit: add the network, use the official bridge, test small, and time your mainnet transaction for low gas. Keep the withdrawal delay in mind on the way back. This guide is for education only — not financial advice.
